Riverbed CTO to Present on an Emerging Architecture for Network Performance Monitoring at ILTA 2011

Company to Showcase IT Performance Solutions for Legal Applications

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - Aug 15, 2011) - Riverbed Technology (NASDAQ: RVBD), the IT performance company, today announced that Riverbed® chief technology officer and co-founder Steven McCanne will present on an emerging architecture for network performance monitoring at International Legal Technology Association (ILTA) 2011, taking place August 21-25 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville, Tennessee. ILTA is the premier peer network for legal technology professionals that offers in-depth educational programs, presentations from industry experts, and real-world demonstrations. At booth #613, Riverbed will exhibit its IT performance solutions used by law firms to accelerate legal applications and Microsoft SharePoint.

Many organizations, including law firms, are growing and expanding the number of branch offices and remote workers; however, they are also looking to simplify IT infrastructure and reduce operational costs. As law firms centralize IT and expand corporate resources, the wide area network (WAN) has become a critical component of their network infrastructure. Network monitoring helps IT administrators allocate resources to improve the efficiency of the network. Proactive network monitoring enables the quick resolution of problems, before there is an impact on the network or the end-user. Using behavioral analytics allows law firms to track performance metrics and set up alerts when abnormal network behavior is occurring, enabling organizations to keep the network running with minimal disruptions.

Conference attendees can learn more about the benefits of network monitoring in a presentation by Dr. McCanne, an early innovator in packet capture research, who will discuss an emerging architecture for network performance monitoring. Details of the session are as follows:

What: Emerging Architecture for Network Performance Monitoring
Who: Steven McCanne, CTO and co-founder, Riverbed
When: Tuesday, August 23, 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Where: Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center, Bayou C

In addition to learning about network monitoring approaches from Dr. McCanne, conference attendees can visit the Riverbed booth to gain more insight on Riverbed's full suite of IT performance solutions.

Recently, Riverbed enhanced its Cascade® network performance management (NPM) solution by integrating the application-aware functionality of Cascade Profiler™ with the Cascade Shark™ network traffic recording appliance and Cascade Pilot™ network analysis software. The newly integrated Cascade gives customers complete, top-down visibility into their network and applications. Having visibility into this traffic as the network becomes more complex is extremely beneficial as it allows the network manager to proactively identify application performance issues, prioritize applications, and allocate bandwidth in order to keep mission-critical applications running without disruption.

More than 13,000 organizations worldwide, across a wide range of markets, depend on Riverbed to understand, optimize and consolidate their IT infrastructure. Riverbed delivers hardware, software and virtualized solutions that overcome performance issues caused by distance, distributed computing, and ever increasing amounts of data. Virtualization, consolidation and cloud computing promise huge cost savings and improved efficiencies, but as users move farther from their data, slow applications and file transfers can stall these strategic initiatives. Riverbed delivers to the remote office and mobile workers the same "local area network (LAN)-like" performance, no matter where the private data center or public cloud may be. Riverbed continues building on its success in the wide area network (WAN) optimization and application-aware NPM markets with new and innovative solutions for accelerating cloud storage and access to applications and data deployed in public, private and hybrid clouds.
