Riverbed Customer to Present on the Benefits of WAN Optimization at Storage Decisions New York

Riverbed to Showcase Solutions to Accelerate Disaster Recovery for Enhanced Data Protection, Including Whitewater Cloud Storage Gateway

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - Sep 19, 2011) - Riverbed Technology (NASDAQ: RVBD), the IT performance company, today announced that Greg Marron, Global Network/Telecom Architect at global law firm Mayer Brown, will discuss his organization's success using Riverbed® wide area network (WAN) optimization solutions at the upcoming Storage Decisions New York 2011 conference. The conference takes place September 19-20, 2011 at the Hilton New York in New York, and brings together top storage industry experts to discuss best practices for data storage infrastructures, including consolidation, automation, data protection and compliance. Attendees can visit the Riverbed booth (#40) to learn how the company's IT performance solutions enable customers to accelerate disaster recovery (DR) operations, including its Steelhead® family of WAN optimization solutions and its Whitewater cloud storage gateway for data protection.

Conference attendees can also attend the following session to learn how Riverbed customer Mayer Brown is re-architecting its data centers to better serve its global employees in the Americas, Asia and Europe. As part of this initiative, Mayer Brown leveraged Riverbed WAN optimization solutions to accelerate key business applications such as Microsoft Exchange, while utilizing 87.5% less bandwidth. The deployment of Steelhead appliances also accelerated data replication without data loss, and improved the company's recovery time objective (RTO) and recovery point objective (RPO), leading to an enhanced data protection strategy. As a result of this Riverbed deployment, Mayer Brown expects to save more than half a million dollars in bandwidth costs per year.

More than 13,000 organizations worldwide already use Riverbed WAN optimization solutions to accelerate applications and to dramatically reduce bandwidth requirements; many of them have also deployed the solutions to enable faster data protection, thereby reducing their RTOs and RPOs. As replication has emerged as a preferred strategy for more frequent and seamless protection of storage between data centers, many enterprises have deployed Riverbed Steelhead appliances to accelerate DR operations, in some cases up to 55 times, and to reduce WAN bandwidth requirements by up to 95 percent.

For unmatched performance, flexibility and fault tolerance in large data centers and DR environments, organizations have deployed the Steelhead 7050 model appliance that combines bandwidth and TCP session scalability with solid-state drives (SSD) and 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10 GbE). Riverbed also offers innovative solutions for accelerating cloud storage and access to applications and data deployed in public, private and hybrid clouds. For organizations that are challenged by the explosion in data growth in their IT environments, Riverbed Whitewater™ cloud storage gateway solutions deliver data protection with fast, seamless, drop-in access to major public cloud storage providers with LAN (local area network)-like performance, connecting directly to most popular backup tools.
