Riverbed to Showcase IT Consolidation and Cloud Acceleration Solutions at Interop New York 2010

Riverbed Executive to Present Strategies for Accelerating Access to the Cloud and Best Practices for Branch Office Consolidation; Riverbed Customer to Present Public and Private Cloud Success Story at CIO Boot Camp

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - October 18, 2010) -   Riverbed Technology (NASDAQ: RVBD), the IT performance company, today announced its participation at Interop New York 2010 taking place October 18-22 at The Jacob Javits Convention Center. At the event, a Riverbed® executive will lead discussions on optimizing performance for cloud deployments as well as best practices for leveraging virtualization in branch office consolidation efforts. Additionally, John Lax, Vice President of Information Systems for International Justice Mission (IJM), a Riverbed customer since 2008, will participate in the event's CIO Boot Camp, sharing how strategic use of private and public cloud computing models to deliver IT resources to IJM's employees around the globe enables his team to focus more funds and effort on rescuing victims of violence.

Interop provides a forum to discuss the powerful innovations and solutions that the industry has to offer. The conference includes in-depth educational programs, workshops, real-world demonstrations and live technology implementations.

Attendees can stop by the Riverbed booth #228 to learn how Riverbed wide area network (WAN) optimization solutions enable organizations of all sizes to overcome a wide range of IT and private cloud infrastructure performance bottlenecks, including poor application performance and insufficient bandwidth at remote sites. By speeding the performance of applications between data centers, remote offices and mobile workers, in some cases by up to 100 times, the award-winning Riverbed Steelhead® appliances enable companies to consolidate IT resources while improving staff productivity and collaboration.

CIO Boot Camp: Riverbed Customer International Justice Mission
Conference Session:
International Justice Mission's Global Private Network: A Vital Resource for Communications
Who: John Lax, Vice President, Information Systems, IJM
When: Tuesday, October 19, 9:45-10:15 am
Where: Room 1E16
What: IJM is a non-profit human rights agency leading the fight against modern-day slavery, child sex exploitation and other forms of violent oppression. For IJM, fast communications is critical to delivering much-needed services and safety in the field, but with 15 remote offices spread out across 10 countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America, it's also costly, consuming dollars that could be best used for the rescue of victims of violent abuse. John Lax will discuss his strategy for leveraging both private and public cloud computing models to meet agency needs. WAN optimization from Riverbed has enabled IJM to centralize email and SharePoint on the private cloud, improving field office communications and achieving 5X better throughput -- obviating the need for costly bandwidth upgrades in far-flung locations. IJM is in the process of developing and rolling out a new internal field application and a cloud back-up solution (for non-sensitive data owned by field offices) that will take advantage of the public cloud's scalability, management and cost advantages.

Riverbed Drives Discussions on Virtualization, Cloud Acceleration
Conference Session:
What Virtualization Means to the Branch Office
Who: Apurva Davé, Vice President, Product Marketing, Riverbed
When: Thursday, October 21, 3:25-4:15 pm
Where: Room 1E08
What: Most organizations are taking IT resources such as servers, applications and storage out of branch offices and placing them in centralized data centers. This raises some critical questions: How can IT organizations overcome the impediments to the broad deployment of virtual desktops? Should the next generation branch office be serverless? What type of
device(s) needs to still be in the branch office and how is it managed? What techniques can be used to overcome the performance issues? The speakers on this panel will answer those questions and will present alternative designs for your next generation branch office.

Conference Session: Optimizing the Performance of Cloud Computing
Who: Apurva Davé, Vice President, Product Marketing, Riverbed
When: Friday, October 22, 9:00-10:00 am
Where: Room 1E08
What: One impact of the movement to use more private and public cloud computing solutions is that it increases the likelihood that IT resources will be accessed over a relatively low capacity, high latency WAN. Even worse, in some cases these IT resources will be accessed over multiple WAN links. The panelists at this session will identify both the performance challenges associated with cloud computing as well as myriad technologies and services that IT organizations can use to mitigate the impact of those challenges.
