Riverbed to Showcase IT Performance Solutions at Cloud Computing and Virtualization Conference

Riverbed Technical Leader to Discuss Cloud Performance

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - Sep 6, 2011) - Riverbed Technology (NASDAQ: RVBD), the IT performance company, today announced its participation at the Cloud Computing and Virtualization Conference, taking place September 7-9 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. At the conference, Riverbed® (booth# 13) will showcase its IT performance solutions. In addition, Steve Riley, technical leader at Riverbed, will lead discussions on cloud performance, new strategies and policies, and the cost saving benefits associated with a cloud infrastructure.

The Cloud Computing and Virtualization Conference is a national forum for showcasing how government agencies use case studies in developing cloud infrastructure and software services, emerging strategies and best practices to help government agencies securely migrate to next-generation computing platforms and use virtualization more effectively.

More than 13,000 organizations worldwide, across a wide range of markets, depend on Riverbed to understand, optimize and consolidate their IT infrastructure. Riverbed delivers hardware, software and virtualized solutions that overcome performance issues caused by distance, distributed computing, and ever increasing amounts of data. Virtualization, consolidation and cloud computing promise huge cost savings and improved efficiencies, but as users move farther from their data, slow applications and file transfers can stall these strategic initiatives. Riverbed delivers to the remote office and mobile workers the same "local area network (LAN)-like" performance, no matter where the private data center or public cloud may be. Riverbed continues building on its success in the wide area network (WAN) optimization, application-aware NPM and data protection markets with new and innovative solutions for accelerating cloud storage and access to applications and data deployed in public, private and hybrid clouds.

Visitors to the Riverbed booth can learn how the company's WAN optimization and application-aware NPM solutions are critical elements for providing network visibility and control that accelerate the transmission of data, and for migrating to cloud and virtualized environments. Conference attendees can also learn more about cloud performance, new strategies and policies, and the cost saving benefits associated with a cloud infrastructure by attending two sessions with Steve Riley.

What: "The Lurking Cloud Killer - Network and Storage Performance Essentials"
Who: Steve Riley, technical leader, Riverbed
When: Thursday, September 8, 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM
Where: Exhibit Hall Theater, Room Session 1
The rapid growth of public and private cloud computing, simultaneously with the explosive proliferation of portable content creation tools and ubiquitous wireless connectivity, are placing enormous pressures on network transport and storage. To get the most out of the emerging "distributed recentralization" now occurring, IT departments, network operators and businesses of all sizes will need to consider technology options that accelerate data transmission and reduce data amounts. These technologies bring many benefits, including improving user experiences, retaining more customers, and saving money on bandwidth and storage costs. Riley will discuss the performance and availability challenges of cloud computing and describe the business and technical advantages achieved through optimization and acceleration techniques.

What: "Creating Cloud Infrastructure and Realizing Cost Savings"
Who: Steve Riley, technical leader, Riverbed
When: Friday, September 9, 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Where: Salon H, Room Session 6
As government agencies adopt new ways of collecting, sharing and storing their information assets, the impact on the IT infrastructure, as well as agency operating environments, can be substantial. While some traditional IT and management functions may be replaced by automation available in the cloud applications, new strategies and policies may be necessary to ensure optimization, sustainability and sufficient oversight of these more virtual computing approaches. A panel of seasoned professionals will discuss how new computing strategies have transformational capabilities that will help government agencies optimize service delivery, improve information management, and enable the injection of innovative and cost-effective new methods of making government work.
