Riverbed to Showcase Leading IT Performance Solutions at Department of Defense Intelligence Information Systems (DoDIIS) Conference

Company to Provide Primer and Training on WAN Optimization; Topics Include Improving Satellite Communications and Network Visibility for DoD Agencies

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - Apr 26, 2011) - Riverbed Technology (NASDAQ: RVBD), the IT performance company, today announced its participation at the 2011 Department of Defense Intelligence Information Systems (DoDIIS) Worldwide Conference taking place May 1-5, 2011 at the COBO Center in Detroit, MI. DoDIIS is hosted annually by the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) Directorate for Information Management (DS) and Chief Information Officer and provides a unique opportunity for defense intelligence community members and industry peers to discuss the development and maintenance of secure and reliable networks for the Department of Defense (DoD). At the conference, Riverbed® will provide primer and training sessions on wide area network (WAN) optimization and application acceleration, with topic areas that include satellite communications and network visibility.

Riverbed is the only vendor with an IT performance platform that provides customers with an end-to-end approach to understand application performance over networks, optimize the performance of applications and storage, and intelligently consolidate their infrastructure and data into private or public clouds. Riverbed provides WAN optimization, network and application visibility, and cloud storage acceleration solutions that enable optimization of applications and data for branch offices, data centers and mobile workers, as well as virtualized, private and public cloud environments -- with the recently introduced cloud-based solutions Riverbed Cloud Steelhead™ and the Riverbed Whitewater™ appliance.

At the conference (Booth #435), Riverbed will showcase its WAN optimization and network visibility solutions, including the ability to accelerate the transmission of mission-critical data over satellite-based WANs to help the defense intelligence community better meet its operational objectives. In 2010, Riverbed acquired Global Protocols LLC to expand on an existing partnership, enabling customers to derive even greater value out of the combined solution. Currently, customers are able to achieve high-performance, secure access to mission-critical information by combining the award-winning WAN optimization capabilities of Riverbed Steelhead® appliances with SkipWare functionality within the Riverbed Services Platform (RSP).

For a primer or technical training on WAN optimization and application acceleration, including satellite communications and network visibility, conference-goers can attend the following sessions, which are offered on three different days:

What:
DoDIIS WAN Optimization Program Update and Primer

When:
Monday, May 2, 2011, 2:00 PM; Tuesday, May 3, 2011, 10:45 AM; Wednesday, May 4, 2011, 1:15 PM

Where:
COBO Center

Learn how DIA is improving application and services performance across the DoDIIS WAN, including satellite, while reducing bandwidth requirements at the same time. WAN optimization is the enabling technology for key DIA/DS Innovation IT initiatives such as DIA data center consolidation, NGD/VDI, Exchange 2010 and SharePoint migrations, analyst HTTP/S web application support and more. This session includes an educational overview and primer for WAN optimization and application acceleration.

What:
Technical WAN Optimization and Acceleration Training and Demonstration

When:
Monday, May 2, 2011, 3:45 PM; Tuesday, May 3, 2011, 11:30 AM; Wednesday, May 4, 2011, 2:15 PM

Where:
COBO Center

This technical session will help attendees understand how to apply and get the maximum benefit and productivity out of DIA's WAN optimization program investments. This session will demonstrate and instruct on how to configure and deploy Riverbed Steelhead appliances, create and load server applications as Windows 2008 R2, SkipWare and firewalls onto the Riverbed Services Platform (RSP); perform DR/COOP data replications/backups; configure systems for low bandwidth/high latency satellite networks such as DIVN; optimize Microsoft Exchange and SharePoint applications; and discover and analyze network traffic for better "visibility" of what is running on the networks.
