Riverbed Technology Honored With STAR Awards for Best Practices in Emerging Company Support and SMB Service Delivery Optimization

Technology Services Industry Peers Honor Riverbed's Contributions to the Continual Improvement of Service and Support Delivery

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - May 17, 2010) -  Riverbed Technology (NASDAQ: RVBD), the IT performance company, today announced that it has been named the winner of two Technology Services Industry Association (TSIA) STAR Awards for Best Practices, in the categories of Emerging Company Support and SMB Service Delivery Optimization. The awards were announced May 5 at the Technology Services World conference in Silicon Valley.

The STAR Awards for Best Practices recognize technology companies that have developed, implemented, and benchmarked the most innovative and efficient processes for service and support delivery. The award for Best Practices in Emerging Company Support is determined among eligible companies that provide technical support within emerging businesses (defined as companies with under $250 million in total annual revenue) for which exemplary customer support is important for company growth and is typically provided with constrained resources, and whose technical support effectively maintains their customers' satisfaction and loyalty and helps drive new business. The judgment criteria used in determining Riverbed as the winner of this award included customer support center responsiveness; Web self-service; product supportability; proactive service offerings; customer impact; and business impact. The award for SMB Service Delivery Optimization is determined among eligible companies that have successfully improved support delivery operations through the use of outsourcing, consistent global processes, service technology development or deployment, and/or a quality improvement methodology such as Six Sigma or ISO 9000 to optimize and improve efficiency. The judgment criteria used in determining Riverbed as the winner of this award included service delivery initiatives; quality improvement program; R&D interface; customer impact; and business impact.

Riverbed® sells and provides support for its WAN optimization solutions that enable organizations of all sizes to overcome a wide range of IT infrastructure performance bottlenecks, including poor application performance, slow database backups and insufficient bandwidth at remote sites. By speeding applications between data centers, remote offices and mobile workers, in some cases by up to 100 times, Riverbed Steelhead® appliances eliminate the performance barrier for those looking to adopt a cloud-oriented IT delivery model. In addition to offering leading WAN optimization products, Riverbed has a strong commitment to provide its customers with an outstanding customer support organization.

"We're pleased to recognize Riverbed as a leading service organization that is setting the pace for the industry by pushing the envelope and delivering the strategies and tactics needed to help customers bridge the technology consumption gap," said J.B. Wood, CEO, TSIA.

"Our goal is to provide world-class support to help customers get the most value out of their Riverbed investment," said Scott Downie, vice president of customer support at Riverbed. "These awards reflect the continuing ability of Riverbed customers and partners to depend on our support organization to quickly and easily use, manage, and troubleshoot Riverbed products in their network."
