Riverstone Celebrates 1,000th Sale

SUGAR LAND, TX--(Marketwire - July 14, 2008) - David Weekley's first Green Home sale in Riverstone was also an important milestone for the Houston master-planned community -- Riverstone's 1,000th home.

Wee-na and Benjamin Tzeng are Riverstone's 1,000th family, purchasing the home in June and moving in during July. "The Tzengs were looking for a more up-to-date home," said David Weekley sales representative Dorothy Yee.

"I think they were really just looking, but became more enamored with the home as it neared completion," Yee said. "I think it's very cool to be involved in the 1,000th sale, plus have that sale be our first Green Home."

Through David Weekley's Green Home Program, homes are built to meet Energy Star standards and Diamond Level requirements for the Environments for Living program. These initiatives allow homeowners to conserve up to 50 percent in heating and air conditioning usage compared to a similar home built to 2004 building code standards. Key features include 15 SEER HVAC systems, vinyl windows, MERV 10 filtration that removes 70 percent of all pollen, mold and other allergens, and an energy cost guarantee specific to the home.

"Our sales so far this year have been phenomenal, up 10 percent from what they were last year," said Tom Wilcox, Riverstone's general manager. "Buyers appreciate the values of our Houston luxury homes, lush amenities and accessible location. With such strong numbers in the first half of the year, we anticipate a continuing trend."

Yee concurs with Wilcox's assessment.

"Riverstone is very much in demand," said Yee, who has sold homes in the community for more than three years. "People are drawn by the location and amenities."

Yee is such a believer in the community that she and her family also are Riverstone residents.

Planned for 6,000 homes over the next eight years, Riverstone is conveniently located at Highway 6, three miles south of U.S. 59, and offers easy access to several major thoroughfares, including the Fort Bend Parkway. Just minutes away are abundant dining and shopping choices, including First Colony's booming Town Center. Plus, Riverstone students attend some of the most highly rated schools within the acclaimed Fort Bend Independent School District, including Austin Parkway Elementary, Settlers Way Elementary, Commonwealth Elementary, First Colony Middle School, Fort Settlement Middle School, Clements High School and Elkins High School.

These Fort Bend County new home owners enjoy a wealth of amenities, including a lush swimming complex contoured with rock waterfalls and panoramic lake views, as well as playgrounds, lighted tennis courts, a fishing pier, and pedestrian walkways and trails. A 3.5-acre dog park is now open and a second recreation center is scheduled to open later this summer. A highlight of the Houston master-planned community is the 110-acre Lake Riverstone. In all, Riverstone's master plan includes 250 acres of lakes and more than 500 acres of open space and parklands.
