RivieraWaves Receives SAME Conference 2011 Best Paper Award

SOPHIA-ANTIPOLIS, FRANCE--(Marketwire - Nov 7, 2011) - RivieraWaves, the leading provider of low power wireless connectivity Intellectual Property (IP) for Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, today announced that the SAME (Sophia Antipolis MicroElectronics) Conference 2011, a major annual conference and exhibition for micro-electronics, awarded its Best Paper Award to RivieraWaves.

The paper, "Power / Energy Simulation tool for connectivity systems," presented a simulation tool that can estimate the power dissipation and energy requirements of a distributed wireless connectivity system, in a real-life application. It includes a practical example for a Bluetooth low energy network topology composed of devices based on the RivieraWaves IP and software.

"17 technical papers have been presented at the SAME 2011," said Jacques-Olivier Piednoire, President of SAME. "This year, the paper from RivieraWaves clearly stood out, so the committee selected it as the Best Paper Award recipient."

During a simulation, the tool computes the critical information required to analyze a complete wireless connectivity system (power dissipation, MIPS usage, runtime, throughput, bandwidth usage, latency, etc...). With it, one can assess how the crystal accuracy and the way the application is written have a direct impact on the battery life.

"We are honored to receive the Best Paper Award from SAME 2011," said Ange Aznar, President and CEO of RivieraWaves. "This powerful simulation tool allowed us to develop extremely low power semiconductor IP for Bluetooth and Wi-Fi applications."
