RK Motors Restores Family's Priceless Ford Torino

CHARLOTTE, NC--(Marketwire - March 31, 2011) - The team at RK Motors Restoration, one of the nation's premier restorers, re-sellers and builders of classic, muscle and high-performance cars, is proud to announce their latest project: a 1971 Ford Torino convertible GT. The Ford Torino was given as a special gift more than 30 years ago between a father, Turk Yavalar and his son, Hakan.

"The son came to us with a simple request, to completely restore the Torino to its glory days," said Joseph Carroll, president of RK Motors Restoration and RK Motors Charlotte. "We're honored to be a part of this special moment in the Yavalar family's lives. With only about 44,000 miles on it, this Torino is a prized possession."

Turk originally purchased the Torino as a high school graduation present for his son in 1978. Hakan approached RK Motors Restoration in Mentor, Ohio, this past year to restore the car to its original stature, so he could give the Ford back to his father as a birthday gift. The team completed the nut-and-bolt restoration in a little over nine months. On Friday, Hakan presented the car to a surprised father.

"This car has a lot of memories," explained Hakan Yavalar. "It's traveled with me through the years from my first job to my current job remodeling real estate. My father even used it as his daily driver when he worked for a local construction company. It's been in the family for more than three decades and will hopefully be in the family for many more years to come. My father gave it to me [and] now I am giving it back to him on his birthday. Maybe one day he [will] give it to his grandkids."

The one-of-a-kind Torino sat in Hakan's garage for the past 15 years. RK Motors Restoration transformed the Torino back to its original state with the exception of a dual exhaust added by the request of Hakan. The car, which is one of 16 Maroon Metallic Torinos with an automatic 302-2V engine, features a C-4 Cruise-O-Matic transmission, power steering and AM radio. A white convertible top completes the overall appeal of the muscle car.

"After four months of extensively researching and looking for the best restoration company, RK Motors was the right choice for us," added Yavalar. "The quality of workmanship and the care the team put into making our dream a reality really meant a lot to us."
