Roads are Top Priority for Infrastructure Investment Say Bikers

MANCHESTER, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - Oct. 24, 2010) - A new survey of British bikers has found bikers are most concerned about the state of British roads ahead of the winter months.

The survey, carried by Swinton Bikes, one of the UKs leading bike insurers, asked 1200 bikers what they were most concerned about on the roads today.

An overwhelming 78% of motorbike insurance participants said they were most concerned about the state of British roads whilst 10% said they were worried about reckless or bad driving. 5% of respondents' said drunk drivers caused the most problems, whilst another 5% were worried about pollution and potential harm to the environment.

The results come in light of news that British councils are struggling to repair roads ahead of the winter months, when roads surfaces are most affected by the drop in temperature.

Anthony Aronin, head of Swinton Bikes commented "The state of roads is most important to bikers because they rely on consistent road surfaces to maintain stability and safety. We are urging all bikers to be extra vigilant of this issue in the coming winter months and to adjust speed accordingly. Increased focus on the roads will help avoid accidents, keeping insurance premiums low".
