Bearden Brings Stellar Track Record for Building and Scaling Highly Successful Open Source and Enterprise Software Companies

ORLANDO, FL--(Marketwire - March 17, 2010) -  Pentaho Corporation, the undisputed leader in open source business intelligence (BI), announced today that Rob Bearden has been appointed executive chairman of the board. Bearden, a veteran executive in the commercial open source software industry, most recently served as the president and chief operating officer of SpringSource before it was acquired by VMware. Bearden will collaborate closely with Pentaho CEO Richard Daley in overseeing all strategic and operational aspects of the company.

"Rob is the best person on the planet when it comes to running successful commercial open source businesses and I'm extremely pleased that he is joining the team," said Richard Daley. "Rob's expertise will further accelerate the growth of Pentaho's market share at the expense of the proprietary BI vendors."

"I am thrilled to join Pentaho, a company that is rapidly growing and transforming the BI landscape," said Bearden. "I'm looking forward to working with Richard and team to ensure that Pentaho consistently delivers a world-class BI platform that is quick, easy and cost-effective to deploy for organizations of any size."

Rob Bearden has more than 20 years of software industry experience with a special knack for commercial open source. Before joining Pentaho, he served as president and chief operating officer of SpringSource, where he helped drive sales and operational excellence that culminated in VMware's acquisition of SpringSource in 2009 for $420 million. He has previously served as an entrepreneur in residence at Benchmark Capital, a leading venture capital firm in Silicon Valley, and as president and chief operating officer for JBoss, an open source middleware company, where he helped architect and execute the company's commercial open source vision that eventually led to an acquisition by Red Hat in 2006.

Prior to that, Bearden was president of the Americas at i2 Technologies, a supply chain software provider, overseeing operations in the United States, Canada, Latin America and Mexico. He also served as senior vice president of worldwide sales for Manhattan Associates and spent six years at Oracle Corporation in various executive positions.
