Calgarian Rob McLeod recently won the Denver Quadruped, a dog disc distance competition with his canine teammate, Davy Whippet. This is the 3rd Quadruped win for Rob and Davy this year and based on their results, they won the 2013 Quadruped Series title as well. Coupled with their 2012 Quadruped Series title, they become the first men's team to repeat as champions.

The Quadruped is a competition in which a human throws to a dog in an attempt to get the longest catch. Through a series of heats and rounds, a winner is awarded, with the shortest catch pair being eliminated each round. There are 5 Quadruped competitions each year and the team with the most points based on their top 2 finishes is awarded the Quadruped Series title.

Last August, Rob and Davy broke the Quadruped World Record when they had a catch at 116.5 yards (349 feet). This year, Rob and Davy's best catch was at 105.5 yards. "The wind in Denver wasn't as strong as it was last year which didn't allow for a big enough throw to challenge our world record. However, I threw the most consistent I ever have in a competition and I'm confident we will be able to beat our record next year," said McLeod.

Rob's canine teammate, Davy Whippet, has gotten a lot of news coverage over the past year by virtue of breaking the WFDF and Guinness World Record for Distance to Canine Catch, a record that has been unbroken since 1994, and a record that Rob and Davy broke last fall, on October 14. Rob and Davy will be in the 2014 Guinness Book of World Records, which is coming out in early September.

You can find out more about Davy Whippet and his incredible catching ability on his website at www.davywhippet.com. Davy normally lives with his owner in Edmonton but he will be in Calgary until late next week visiting with Rob as they get in some practice time preparing for the 2013 Skyhoundz World Championships which are held in late September.

McLeod also competes in ultimate frisbee and disc golf competitions and holds 2 other Guinness World Records on his own for flying disc. You can find out more about Rob at www.frisbeerob.com.
