NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - March 22, 2010) -  Emblem/Atlantic recording artist Rob Thomas has announced the upcoming release of his new digital EP, "SOMEDAY." The four-song collection goes on sale exclusively via iTunes on March 30th, and then at all DSPs on April 6th.

The "SOMEDAY" EP is highlighted by four previously unreleased tracks including a live rendition of the multiple Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter's history-making #1 hit, "Someday" and fan favorite "Sunday Morning New York Blue." Each of the tracks will premiere daily on Yahoo Music, kicking off March 23rd and concluding on March 26th -- for details, please see www.yahoomusic.com.

"Someday" -- the most recent single from Thomas' 2009 sophomore solo album, "cradlesong" -- is the latest in a momentous string of chart-topping hits on Billboard's "Adult Pop Songs" chart. The ranking marks Thomas' fourth time at #1, following "Her Diamonds" (the first single from "cradlesong"), "Lonely No More" (from 2005's smash solo debut, "SOMETHING TO BE"), and 1999-2000's Grammy-winning collaboration with Santana, "Smooth." With the success of "Someday," Thomas surpasses Pink for most-ever #1 hits on the "Adult Pop Songs" chart by a solo artist, and equals the chart-topping output of his own band, matchbox twenty.

As if that weren't enough, "Someday" recently topped the airplay charts at Hot AC radio outlets nationwide -- Thomas' fourth #1 at the format. In addition, the song's companion video was a #1 favorite on VH1's VSPOT Top 20 Video Countdown.

On Thursday, April 8th, Thomas will be interviewed as part of the New York Times' "Times Talks at The Times Center." Billed "A Conversation About Music," the event will see the multi-talented tunsmith discussing the many facets of his extraordinary career, from his work with matchbox twenty to his collaborations with such icons as Carlos Santana, Mick Jagger, and Willie Nelson to his stellar solo career. For complete details and ticket information, please see www.nytimes.whsites.net/talk/index.php.

Thomas -- who has just returned home following a hugely successful Australian tour -- is slated to perform live at Atlanta's upcoming Dow Live Earth Run for Water, the largest worldwide water initiative on record to help combat the global water crisis. Set for April 18th, the Dow Live Earth Run for Water is a series of 6km run/walks -- the average distance many women and children walk every day to get water -- taking place over the course of 24 hours in 192 countries, featuring concerts and water education activities to ignite a massive global movement to help solve the water crisis. Funds raised from the events will benefit Global Water Challenge, a coalition of non-profit organizations working to bring clean, safe drinking water to millions of people worldwide. Atlanta's Dow Live Earth Run for Water event will take place in downtown Atlanta, starting at 8:45 AM, with Thomas' performance set to commence upon the run/walk's conclusion. Rob Thomas is one of the most distinctive vocalists and accomplished songwriters in contemporary music, garnering a string of accolades -- both for his work as lead singer and primary composer with matchbox twenty as well as for his solo work and collaborations with other artists. In 2004, the Songwriters Hall of Fame presented Thomas with its first ever "Starlight Award" -- created to recognize a songwriter in the early years of his or her career that has already made a lasting impact. He has won numerous BMI and ASCAP Awards, and has earned the Songwriter of the Year crown from both Billboard and BMI, two years in a row.

Thomas has written and performed a remarkable string of hits, including matchbox twenty's #1-charting "Push," "3AM," "If You're Gone," "Bent," "Disease," and "Unwell," plus such favorites as "Real World," "Back 2 Good," "Mad Season," and "Bright Lights." His smash collaboration with Santana, the Thomas-penned "Smooth," earned Rob three Grammy Awards and ranks #1 on Billboard's "Top Hot 100 Rock Songs" chart and #2 on the magazine's "Hot 100 All-Time Top Songs." He has also worked with the likes of Willie Nelson, Mick Jigger, Marc Anthony and Bernie Taupin. Combining all of his projects, Thomas has contributed to sales of more than 80 million records.
