Robeks Smoothie Franchise Juice Sales Double as Customers Embrace Health Trend

Robeks Customers Cite Dr. Oz's Advice as They Line Up for Fresh Juice

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - Apr 3, 2012) - Dr. Oz, who teaches TV viewers how to live healthier, happier lives, has a message for Americans: Drink your fruits and vegetables. Customers of Robeks Premium Fruit Smoothies are listening.

Juice sales have doubled at Robeks in the past year, as more customers opt for healthy drinks that feature only fresh fruits and vegetables. The juicing trend is rising. Robeks expects it to continue.

Drinking juice is one of the most efficient ways for the human body to absorb maximum nutrients. For instance, a person who eats a raw carrot will absorb about five percent of the carrot's beta-carotene and the same person will absorb 90 percent from fresh carrot juice.

"We're determined to help people live better, healthier lives by offering better, healthier juice options," said Steve Davidson, president and CEO. "Juicing is an important part of a lot of people's lives and can be a really important part of a non-processed food diet, but not everyone has time to fresh-squeeze their own juice. We make it easy to be healthy."

To meet the growing demand for juice, Robeks added new vegetable juices at select locations that make use of combinations of carrots, tomatoes, bell peppers, parsley, cucumber, beets, garlic, celery, spinach, kale, ginger and cayenne pepper.

The new veggie juice offerings come on the heels of another new product, the smoothie bowl, which was introduced last year and quickly added 10 percent to the average store revenue. The diverse menu items give Robeks more juice options than are commonly available and have contributed to an increase in same store sales for the healthy franchise system.

Robeks customer Anna Duncan, who lives in Arlington Va., says she can taste the quality and care that goes into her juice.

"The flavor is great and you get all the vitamins and live enzymes that make it so good for you," Duncan said. "I've had chef friends tell me that you should drink it within 20 minutes or you start losing all the good live enzymes and the drink starts oxidizing."
