Rocco Rossi Clear Winner of Ward 18 Debate

Mayoral candidate Rocco Rossi's campaign continues to pick up steam throughout September

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Sept. 13, 2010) -

There was an empty chair at the Ward 18 all candidates' debate tonight at the RCM Community School. That chair was reserved for mayoralty candidate George Smitherman. Instead, Mr. Smitherman chose to attend a rally in a high school cafeteria where only a quarter of the expected attendees showed up. The moderator for the debate was star columnist for the Toronto Sun Sue-Ann Levy who quipped, "George- where are you?"

The candidate all eyes were upon was Rocco Rossi whose campaign is gathering steam over the month of September. Rossi was the clear winner of the debate despite failed attempts to attack him by his rivals.

As a career politician, opponent Joe Pantalone justified "people making mistakes and that's the cost of doing business." Rossi remarked that Mr. Pantalone "has been the Deputy Mayor…Where's the leadership? In the business world, you would be fired for repeated mistakes and repeated poor service." Rossi said that accepting mismanagement and cost overruns at City Hall is "not sufficient" and adhered to the fact that politicians must be held accountable for their actions. "This is why I support term limits and voter recall." Rossi will bring fiscal credibility back to City Hall.
