Rocco Rossi: I'm The Only One Telling The Truth

Mayoral candidate's honesty shines through at CityTV debate

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 3, 2010) - Rocco Rossi delivered a clear case for change to restore trust in City Hall at the CityTV debate earlier tonight.

"It's time to put an end to career politicians," said Rossi. "It's time to elect a mayor we can trust from outside City Hall."

Taking his opponents to task for their questionable fiscal schemes, Rossi noted that he was the only candidate with realistic and sensible proposals.

"[Councillor Ford] and Mr. Smitherman's numbers don't add up," said Rossi to audience applause. "I'm in this race to keep people honest."

Smitherman, protesting, claimed that his "cuts were less severe than Mr. Ford's."

Rossi quickly retorted, to audience laughter and applause: "That bar is pretty low, sir."

Reiterating that trust was they key issue of the election, Rossi noted that he was running an honest campaign and offering realistic proposals.

"I'm the only one not trying to bribe you with your money," said Rossi. "I'm the only one telling the truth about the numbers."

Following the debate, Rossi told reporters that he is "the only candidate who will return power to Torontonians and keep City Hall honest with voter recall and term limits."
