Rochester Energy Corp. Announces New Management Appointments, New Board of Director Appointments and Stock Option Grants

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(CCNMatthews - April 27, 2007) - Rochester Energy Corp. ("Rochester") is pleased to announce the addition of several key individuals to the company's management team.

Mr. Jeff Barefoot has accepted the position of Vice President, Engineering. Mr. Barefoot is a graduate of the University of Calgary and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering, as well as a Masters in Business Administration. He is registered as a professional engineer with APEGGA, and has been employed in the oil and gas industry for 12 years. His strengths include the economic evaluation of assets and prospects, strategy and risk identification and mitigation. Prior to joining Rochester, Mr. Barefoot held the position of Senior Exploitation Engineer at Thunder Energy Trust. Prior to Thunder, Mr. Barefoot was a Senior Operations Engineer of MEC Operating Company. Mr. Barefoot's other prior experience includes holding the position of Development Engineer with Talisman Energy, various technical positions with Halliburton and Schlumberger, and as a Facilities Planning Engineer with TransCanada PipeLines.

Mr. Doug Hamilton has accepted the position of Vice President, Geosciences. Mr. Hamilton obtained his Bachelor of Science in Geology from the University of Saskatchewan in 1988. Mr. Hamilton has 19 years of diverse geological experience in the oil and gas industry. Prior to joining Rochester, Mr. Hamilton was a senior geologist with EnCana Corporation and its predecessor company PanCanadian Petroleum Ltd., where he worked on several exploration, development and exploitation projects in both domestic and international teams. Prior to EnCana, Mr. Hamilton worked with Core Laboratories and other geotechnical service companies providing detailed reservoir evaluations for client companies. These studies focused on reservoir characterization/modeling, sedimentology and structural analysis.

Mr. Chris Gulka has accepted the position of Chief Financial Officer. Christopher Gulka is a Chartered Accountant (CA) and a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). Mr. Gulka is President of Working Capital Corporation, a corporate finance firm, specializing in the areas of valuations, due diligence, financings, mergers and acquisitions, investor relations, and management consulting. He also is the editor of The StockManager, and independent investment newsletter distributed across North America, and writes a monthly column, The Prairie Trader, in the Alberta Venture Magazine. Mr. Gulka has fulfilled the roles of officer and director of numerous public companies including CFO and Director of Dev Investments Inc. (currently Indicator Minerals Inc.) from July 2001 to May 2003; CFO and Director of Leader Mining International Inc. from April 2004 to present, CFO and Director of Communications Inc from April 2001 to present.

Rochester also announced today that due to demands created by various other positions, Mr. Edward Bogle has elected to resign from the Board of Directors of Rochester, effective as of April 16, 2007. With the resignation of Mr. Bogle, Rochester is extremely pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Ken Murphy to the Board of Directors to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Mr. Bogle.

Mr. Murphy graduated from the University of Alberta with a B.Sc. (Mathematics) and joined the Land Department of Mobil Oil Canada, Inc. In 1973, he became Division Land Manager of Mesa Petroleum Inc. until 1979 when the Company was sold to Dome Petroleum. Five of the Mesa Alumni then took over the management of Pan Cana Resources Ltd. which became Geocrude Energy and subsequently Canada Northwest Energy in 1992. In 1993, Mr. Murphy became Vice-President of Land for Petrostar Petroleums Inc. until the Company was sold to Crestar in 1996. Mr. Murphy then joined Real Resources Inc. where he retired as Executive Vice-President in April, 2005. He has experience in land, corporate development, marketing, transportation, financing and human resources with both domestic and international exposure to the Oil and Gas Industry.

Rochester is also pleased to announce the appointment of Morgan Tingle to the Board of Directors to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Mr. William Trickett, which was previously announced on March 16, 2007. Mr. Tingle earned his B.A. in Political Science from the University of Calgary, an MBA from the University of Alberta and an LL.B. also from the U of A. Mr. Tingle practices law with the law firm of TingleMerrett LLP in Calgary, Alberta and has served as the corporate secretary of Rochester since March, 2006.

Mr. Troy Mochoruk, CEO and Chairman of Rochester's Board of Directors commented, "With the addition of Mr. Hamilton, Mr. Barefoot and Mr. Gulka to Rochester's management team and the recent additions to our Board of Directors, coupled with the significant portfolio of diversified oil sands assets held by the company, Rochester has positioned itself well for the next phase of growth for the company."

Finally, Rochester announced that, pursuant to its stock option plan, it has granted options to acquire up to an aggregate of 2,490,000 common shares of Rochester to certain directors, officers and consultants of the company. Each of the options is exercisable at a price of $0.50 per common share for a five year term expiring on April 16, 2011. The options, and any common shares issued upon exercise of the options, are subject to a four month hold period expiring August 17, 2007.
