Rock Candy Media Announces New Social App Service

AUSTIN, TX--(Marketwired - May 30, 2013) - Marketing-driven design firm Rock Candy Media is launching a new service offering as part of its Market Research division, a focus group application dubbed SocialSense.

The app, which replaces traditional focus group research, will be tailored to each client and is designed to gather valuable information in a more efficient way: from the social networks people are spending their time on already.

Clients give Rock Candy Media (RCM) the answers they want questions to. "Generally what our clients want to know aren't exactly engaging in a social sense. SocialSense incentivizes people to take the quiz and share it," says Principal Annie Liao Jones. "And it allows us to gather information in an engaging way, and at the same time gives the brand a larger audience."

RCM developed the idea for the app after doing its own research for Rock Candy Life, the design firm's subsidiary line of lifestyle products. Jones found that asking the right questions using social channels yielded the best results, and allowed her to make informed decisions about which new products would grow the company.

Now RCM wants to do the same for its clients, whether they're B2B businesses or B2C. The custom-developed app will take advantage of growing social channels and give companies the information they need to successfully pitch their services and connect with customers or other businesses.

"Our clients that walk in are already risk takers," adds Annie Liao Jones. "My job as a marketer is to ensure the money we spend on any type of promotion -- whether it is a product launch or an awareness campaign -- is a calculated decision. These social applications will eliminate as much risk as traditional focus groups, will allow users to 'share' their results for overall brand awareness and it cuts the time traditionally needed for feedback in half."

Whereas traditional focus groups can generate skewed results and cost companies a lot of money, the new RCM app service reaches a targeted audience in terms they will respond to, at a fraction of the cost.

RCM's Social Business division launched in January of this year, and offers clients customized programs that make use of the full-service agencies' resources to run content-driven marketing campaigns. This new service combines those strengths with those of RCM's Market Research arm.

"Social is how people find the things they want and need. Organizations have a choice: either put social business to work for you or let other people define who you are," said Jones. "The area most primed for growth is the B2B sector. Their prospects are on Facebook. The targeting it allows now and the analytics we can pull is something you can't argue with."
