Rockland Minerals Corp.: Retty Lake Drilling Confirms Stacked Cu-Ni-PGE Mineralization in Multiple Horizons, Labrador Trough, Quebec

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Dec. 13, 2011) - Rockland Minerals Corp. (TSX VENTURE:RL) (the "Company") is pleased to announce that hole 849-10 extends the strongly anomalous Cu-Ni-PGE mineralization discovered during this summer's drilling program at the Retty Lake Cu-Ni-PGE property, located in Labrador Trough, Québec. Holes 849-9 and 849-10 were drilled 200 meters apart in the Berry Lake area, immediately adjacent to a large claim block recently staked by Anglo American, and they both intercepted a broad zone of anomalous Cu-Ni-PGE greater than 20 meters thick in the upper peridotite sill. This latest assay report showed 4.4 meters grading 0.19% copper, 0.50% nickel, and 0.29 g/t combined platinum-palladium in hole 849-10. Rockland's drilling confirms the existence of "stacked" Cu-Ni-PGE mineralization in multiple horizons, similar to new discoveries in the southern Raglan Belt in Québec's Ungava region. All drill core assays have been received from the Retty Lake Project.

Rockland's drilling at Retty Lake outlined several zones of highly anomalous Cu-Ni-PGE mineralization in the middle peridotite sill on-strike with the Blue Lake deposits. New mineralization at Starr Lake (Lac Retty Ouest), Lost Lake and Nancy Lake present follow-up targets which will be offset by step-out drilling in a similar fashion to the discovery holes in the Blue Lake cluster. The Berry Lake drilling in the upper peridotite sill is highly encouraging, and confirms the "stacked" nature of the mineralization in the Blue Lake / Retty Lake camp. The two holes in the middle sill unit which were barren showed a very interesting, "hybrid" texture whereby the original peridotite magma assimilated the black shale country rock, possibly at a dyke-margin. Dyke structures have not been described previously at Retty Lake / Blue Lake, and are part of the emerging model of peridotite-hosted Cu-Ni-PGE mineralization in the southern Raglan belt in similar age rocks to the north in Québec's Ungava region.
