Petro-Canada Celebrates Launch of New Vancouver 2010 25-Cent Curling Coin with Downtown Coin Exchange

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(CCNMatthews - Feb. 22, 2007) - Rocks dropped at Petro-Canada's downtown Calgary offices on Thursday, February 22 to kick off the release of the first Royal Canadian Mint Vancouver 2010 25-cent circulation coin, celebrating the sport of curling. Olympic Bronze medal curlers Amy Nixon, Bronwen Saunders and Christine Keshen joined Petro-Canada President and Chief Executive Officer Ron Brenneman to launch the event with an introduction of the program and ceremonial rock drop.

"We're pleased to be able to show our support for Canadian athletes and coaches," said Mr. Brenneman.

The 25-cent circulation curling coin will be available at participating Calgary Petro-Canada gas stations through a coin exchange. Petro-Canada customers can exchange their regular coins for the Vancouver 2010 25-cent circulation coin free-of-charge. Petro-Canada retail locations will also sell exclusive Vancouver 2010 coin sport cards, featuring a special colour version of each circulation coin embedded in a laminated sleeve. A portion of the proceeds of the Vancouver 2010 coin sport cards will go to Canadian athletes and coaches through the Petro-Canada Fuelling the Dream* Fund.
