Rocky Mountain Region Expects Chemical Industry to Boost Spending 36% in 2011, an Industrial Info News Alert

SUGAR LAND, TX--(Marketwire - November 30, 2010) - Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas) -- The Rocky Mountain region of the U.S. is home to only 99 Chemical Processing Industry (CPI) plants, and annual investment spending has been down in recent years, as it has been for most regions of the country. In 2010, total capital and maintenance spending for the CPI in this region is expected to reach only $122 million, down sharply from a five-year average exceeding $150 million. One grassroot plant is expected for the region next year: a new helium plant planned by Air Products & Chemicals Incorporated (NYSE:APD) (Allentown, Pennsylvania) for Big Piney, Wyoming. Plans for this plant have been in the making for several years, and current schedules suggest construction could begin during the second quarter of next year.
