Rocmec Cuts 12.1 g/t Over 4.2 Metres at its Rocmec 1 'Russian Kid' Gold Property

POINTE-CLAIRE, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - Nov. 16, 2006) - Rocmec Mining inc. (TSX VENTURE:RMI) is pleased to announce that it has received grade results of the first of four diamond drill holes from its 8000' surface drilling program currently underway on the Rocmec 1 (Russian Kid) gold property. The results of 12.1 g/t over 4.2 metres including 51.8 g/t over 0.82 metres are very encouraging considering the fact that it is a newly discovered structure (Boucher) and that its width is amenable to both conventional and thermal fragmentation mining methods. Furthermore, within the new structure (Boucher) that was intercepted over 34.75 metres, a second zone returned grades of 3.9 g/t over 3.77 metres.

Additional information from above mentioned first hole indicates that the McDowell mineralized zone returned grades of 0.31 g/t over 2.93 metres followed towards the North of the Talus zone that returned grades of 0.25 g/t over 2.24 metres and the Shaft zone that returned grades of 1.03 g/t over 1.1 metres. Notwithstanding the fact that the grades from these zones are not very impressive, management views the results as very positive considering the zones were intercepted at depth, demonstrating geological continuity of the gold bearing structures over 400 metres vertically.

Within this type of ore body it is normal to find variability of weaker and high-grade gold bearing sectors within the mineralised structure, a characteristic feature observed in historical sampling of the drifts.

"The main objective of the surface diamond drilling campaign is to verify continuity at depth of the known structures that are part of the current bulk sampling program. Furthermore, it bodes very well, the fact that these mineralized zones were intercepted at depths between 300 to 400 metres from surface. In fact, several historical drill holes indicate that the same zones were intercepted at similar depths much farther east of the new intersections. We can now conclude that this first hole confirms continuity of the structures" stated Mr. Donald Brisebois, President and CEO of Rocmec.

Mr. Claude Duplessis, President of Geostat Systems International Inc. (Geostat), an independent and qualified person under NI43-101, has reviewed the contents of this press release prior to its publication.

The analytical results are as follows:

The interpreted East-West zones dip abruptly to 70 degrees towards the south, drilling started at a surface dip of 60 degrees and followed its course at a 45 degree angle. This indicates that the lengths intercepted by diamond drilling demonstrate a thickness that is similar to the true thickness of the zone.

Quality Control

Assays were conducted on core samples that were sawed in half, followed by standard preparation and assay procedures with the exception of the Boucher1 zone where visible gold was observed (refer to procedure described in press release dated November 9th). The principal assays were conducted at Lab-Expert of Rouyn-Noranda and control assays at the Bourlamaque Laboratory of Val d'Or. The following table reproduces results of samples containing visible gold that were prepared in three independent fractions from which two samples were assayed from each pulp. The arithmetical average of the six results was employed for the grade of the 0.82m intersection.

Rocmec's growth strategy is to focus on the development of quality assets that will significantly enhance shareholder value. Exploitation of narrow high-grade precious metal quartz veins with its exclusive thermal fragmentation process coupled with conventional mining methods will lead the Company in becoming a mid-size gold producer. The acquisition, development and future exploitation activities at the recently acquired Rocmec I (Russian Kid) property are an excellent example of this strategy.

Rocmec Mining Inc. is a Canadian junior exploration company actively involved in the acquisition, exploration and development of precious metal projects. The Company's exclusive thermal fragmentation process combined with its growth strategy place it as the partner of choice for the development of narrow high-grade precious metal quartz vein properties. The Company is listed on the TSX-Venture exchange and trades under the symbol: RMI
