Rocmec Intercepts an Undeveloped Gold Bearing Structure

POINTE-CLAIRE, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - Aug. 9, 2006) - Rocmec Mining inc.(TSX VENTURE:RMI)("Rocmec") is pleased to announce that it has intercepted, by way of diamond drilling, an undeveloped portion of a known gold bearing structure (the Talus vein) at its Russian Kid gold property. The Talus vein was previously identified in sectors further west of the discovery zone. The new zone is located between the 45 metre (150') level and the 91 metre (300') level, in close proximity to the infrastructures already in place and the company plans on excavating new drifts within the coming weeks as it continues its bulk sampling program currently underway.

The grades and widths of the newly discovered gold bearing structure are suitable for thermal fragmentation and the vein remains open laterally.

Since the completion of the de-watering of the property, the company has been active in preparing a sufficient number of work areas to sustain constant usage of the thermal fragmentation units. At present, preparation of the McDowell vein, level 45 metres (150'), has been completed over hundreds of metres laterally and other sections of the property are currently in the preparation phase.

The press release was prepared under the supervision of Mr. Martin Bourgoin, P.Geo., consultant geologist and qualified person as defined by NI 43-101. Drill core samples were assayed at the Laboratoire Expert inc Laboratory facility located in Rouyn-Noranda, QC. Conventional 30 gram fire assay was performed on all samples.
