Rocmec Pours a First Dore Bar From its Rocmec 1 Gold Property

POINTE-CLAIRE, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - Dec. 14, 2006) - Rocmec Mining inc. (TSX VENTURE:RMI) is pleased to announce that it has poured its first dore bar on December 12th, 2006 at Richmont's Camflo mill. A total of 617 ounces were recovered and sent to the Royal Canadian Mint for refining. A major portion of the mineralised rock processed at the Camflo mill came from underground rock that was stockpiled on surface since the 1980's. A second shipment of approximately 10,000 tonnes is scheduled to be delivered and processed at the Camflo mill during the first quarter of 2007.

Rocmec also announces that it has concluded a private placement of $142,920 with qualified investors and insiders of the Company. The private placement is comprised of a total of 320,000 common shares priced at $0.20 each and 281,857 flow-through shares priced at $0.28 each. Insiders of the Company purchased 135,000 common shares. A cash commission totaling $3,306 was paid.

All the securities issued in virtue of this placement are subject to certain resale restrictions imposed under the applicable securities laws, which require that the securities not be traded before April 15th, 2007.

Furthermore, Management informs that the 8000' surface drill programme as well as underground drilling at the Rocmec 1 gold property near completion. Results of the remaining holes will be made public upon reception. A new NI43-101 compliant resource calculation prepared by Geostat Systems International Inc. (Geostat) should be available during the first quarter of 2007. Drifting and site preparation for thermal fragmentation on level 220' by Dumas Contracting Ltd. is ongoing and management will update progress as warranted.

Rocmec's growth strategy is to focus on the development of quality assets that will significantly enhance shareholder value. Exploitation of narrow high-grade precious metal quartz veins with its exclusive thermal fragmentation process coupled with conventional mining methods will lead the Company in becoming a mid-size gold producer. The acquisition, development and future exploitation activities at the recently acquired Rocmec I (Russian Kid) property are an excellent example of this strategy.
