ROHM and Transim Launch Online Electronic Laboratory

Provides Customers With Leading Online Design and Simulation Powered by WebSIM®

KYOTO, JAPAN and PORTLAND, OR--(Marketwire - June 17, 2009) - ROHM Co., Ltd. ("ROHM") and Transim Technology Corporation ("Transim") today announced the availability of ROHM Electronic Laboratory, an interactive online design support tool powered by Transim's industry leading WebSIM® technology.

ROHM Electronic Laboratory is the first online design support tool for power management applications. The tool supports ROHM's customers in selecting and configuring system applications using ROHM's industry-leading regulator ICs. Within a few minutes users can access customized design schematics, design reports, and perform instant design verification based on their design requirements. This instant verification is made possible by Transim's leading WebSIM® technology, which allows a comprehensive analysis of the design under a variety of conditions, including AC, steady state, and transient operation. In addition, realistic scenarios can be analyzed under different load settings.

In addition to ROHM's power management products the tool offers sophisticated design solutions for ROHM's market-leading motor driver ICs. After entering a few key design requirements, such as supply and VREF voltage, application type (i.e. PWM, battery), and output peak current, the tool suggests suitable products from ROHM's broad IC portfolio of high efficiency H-bridge motor drivers with VREF-PWM conversion function. Based on the user's detailed design requirements, ROHM Electronic Laboratory generates an interactive schematic complete with components that can be changed on the fly. Transim's WebSIM® technology allows instant verification of the proposed design using powerful remote simulation capabilities. Multiple design iterations can be analyzed in minutes without the hassles of software installation and virtually no learning curve.

The resulting waveforms, such as speed plots and voltage graphs, are available for analysis in the included interactive waveform viewer. As a final step the user can print a comprehensive design report including requirements, schematic, simulation results, and BOM. Designs can also be saved in a private storage location for later use.

In addition, ROHM Electronic Laboratory offers the capability to download design schematics as well as WebSIM Connect!™, a free simulation tool.
