Romarco Underway in Mexico

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 19, 2006) - ROMARCO MINERALS INC. (TSX VENTURE:R) is pleased to announce that activities are well underway at its Pinos Gold District in Zacatecas, Mexico.

With the successful completion of the recent financing and having received all regulatory approvals pursuant to the private placement, Romarco aggressively began the necessary corporate logistics required for conducting an exploration and sampling program in Mexico. Romarco is in the process of finalizing the necessary administrative, regulatory and permitting requirements that are required prior to beginning its drill program.

After reviewing some of the project's available historical data, Romarco has selected ten drill sites where core drilling will test the continuity of the known vein systems at depth. Simultaneous with the drilling program, Romarco will be conducting a bulk sampling program from the underground workings for assay data and metallurgical testing.

Romarco has been working with RK Drilling and a drill rig is expected to be available for Romarco in approximately three weeks.

The Pinos Gold District comprises more than 3,000 hectares of multi-vein gold systems.

- Discovered by the Spaniards in 1546 - Gold dominant district

- Last mining was in 1941 - limited modern day exploration

- Historical production - 5 million ounces of gold @ 60 g/t and 25+ million ounces of silver @500 g/t (as reported by Bethlehem Steel, a previous operator of the project)

- Prior mining (in the western part of the district) was limited to above the water table (approx. 100 m in depth)

- Three known vein systems with continuous strike length of over 5km

- Numerous additional parallel veins identified through previous drilling but never mined

Additional information on the Pinos Gold District, including maps and photos, is available at Romarco's website at
