RONA inc. (TSX:RON)(TSX:RON.PR.A), the largest Canadian distributor and retailer of hardware, renovation and gardening products, announced a three-year partnership with Canucks Sports & Entertainment (CS&E) today during a special event held at a RONA store located at 2727 East 12th Avenue in Vancouver.

With this deal, the RONA brand will be a permanent fixture during Vancouver Canucks home games and will appear in locations visible to TV cameras. In essence, one logo will be printed on the ice and a second on the boards near the home team's net. This agreement also includes visibility on the players' practice jerseys with a patch bearing the Corporation's logo. The jerseys are already sporting the new patch and have been since the beginning of training camp for the 2011-2012 season.

Today's announcement also marks the beginning of a major partnership between RONA and Canucks Sports & Entertainment. Karim Salabi, RONA's Vice-President, Marketing - Image and Sponsorships, and Victor de Bonis, Chief Operating Officer, Canucks Sports & Entertainment and Alternate Governor, NHL, announced that RONA and CS&E would be uniting their efforts and resources to renovate youth facilities in local communities on an annual basis. In this regard, the RONA Fabrication Shop, in collaboration with Canucks Sports & Entertainment, will volunteer funds and time and labour for community initiatives.

"What we want above all is to encourage typically Canadian values such as teamwork, social responsibility and perseverance in young people," Salabi said. "The sports sponsorships we create with our business partners, all of which are recognized for their community involvement, will allow us to pursue our commitment to improve the quality of life of all citizens," he added.

"Canucks Sports & Entertainment has strived to forge business relationships with organizations like RONA to provide premium products and services to our fans and community," said de Bonis. "Our new partnership with RONA will allow us to actively engage our fans and develop initiatives in our community."

The partnership between RONA and the Canucks Sports & Entertainment is the most recent example of the Corporation's unfailing commitment to professional and amateur sport in Canada. As a national partner, RONA already provides support to the Canadian Football League and the Canadian Olympic and Paralympic teams for the London 2012 Summer Games. It is also a proud partner of the Calgary Flames and Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, which notably includes the Toronto Maple Leafs.
