RONA Board Adopts New Pro-Active Policy to Facilitate Continuous Improvement in Corporate Governance and Compensation

BOUCHERVILLE, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Dec. 17, 2010) - The Board of Directors of RONA inc. (TSX:RON), the largest Canadian distributor and retailer of hardware, renovation and gardening products, has adopted, after consultation with industry experts and its major shareholders, a new pro-active policy designed to facilitate continuous improvement in its governance and compensation practices as well as enhanced communication with stakeholders regarding such matters.

In accordance with the new policy, RONA now publishes an overview of its governance and compensation policies on the Company's website ( and will proactively communicate to stakeholders any significant changes.

As well, means will be made available to stakeholders enabling them to submit to the Board, through the Corporate Secretary's office, any recommendations or suggestions for improvements to RONA's governance and compensation practices. The Corporate Secretary's office personnel may also arrange for meetings to be held with shareholder representatives to discuss these matters. In addition, shareholders will be invited to ask questions pertaining to governance or executive compensation at the Company's annual meeting.
