RONA Donates $47,044.86 to the Canadian Red Cross as Part of its Program to Help Flood Victims

BOUCHERVILLE, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - June 23, 2011) - RONA inc. (TSX:RON)(TSX:RON.PR.A), the largest Canadian distributor and retailer of hardware, renovation and gardening products, is pleased to donate a sum of $47,044.86 to the Canadian Red Cross as part of its program to assist people affected by flooding in the Montérégie region.

This amount, collected through a fundraising campaign held from May 14 to June 12 of this year, is the result of the outstanding generosity of customers, who were encouraged to make a $2 donation when paying for their purchases at all RONA and Réno-Dépôt stores throughout Quebec. This financial assistance adds to various other measures put in place to provide tangible help to those in need. These measures include easy payment terms through the RONAdvantages program, discounts on renovation materials and cleaning products, delivery of free sandbags to affected municipalities, along with 150 hand trucks and 5,000 pairs of gloves used in the great clean-up task.

Enthusiastic team of volunteers

Beyond providing products and financial assistance, RONA's humanitarian involvement included offering on-site help with the clean-up effort that took place June 11 and 12. About 50 employees from the company's administrative offices took part in the activities.
