RONA How-to Team Helps Build Halifax

HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA--(Marketwire - March 20, 2008) - In preparation for RONA's arrival in Halifax, the RONA How-To Team will be strapping on their tool-belts and rolling up their sleeves for two Halifax-based charities, Phoenix House and the Boys and Girls Club of Spryfield.

"RONA is committed to helping build better communities where our stores are located and to serving local youth, enabling them to reach their true potential," said Halifax RONA store manager, Jamie AuCoin. "We are excited to be launching the How-To Team and working with these two charities in Halifax."

On Wednesday, March 26, the RONA How-To Team will go to work building a sound barrier for the Boys and Girls Club's music area, painting and creating other storage solutions for the club. At Phoenix House, the team will take on numerous projects, including repairing shelving, doors, walls, steps and furniture.

RONA opens its first big-box store in Nova Scotia on April 2 at 350 Horseshoe Lake Drive, Bayer's Lake. This will add to RONA's Atlantic Canada network of 24 stores. The opening of the Halifax RONA store represents a 20 million dollars investment in the community and will create 150 jobs.
