RONA Recognizes MS Awareness Month

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - April 30, 2009) - In support of MS Awareness Month, customers visiting RONA stores from May 1 to 17 will have an opportunity to donate $2, $5 or $10 at the checkout to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada.

RONA, a long time partner of the MS Society is hoping to raise $200,000 through the campaign.

"We are proud to be partnering with MS Society for the 9th consecutive year," said Claude Bernier, executive vice president, marketing and customer innovation at RONA. "As Canada's largest home improvement retailer, we are committed to helping build better communities across the country, and this includes our support of the MS Society through the RONA MS Bike Tour as well as in-store fundraising campaigns," he added.

RONA has a long history of partnership with the MS Society. They are currently title sponsor of the 21-event RONA MS Bike Tour, the largest cycling series run by a not-for-profit organization in Canada. RONA stores and employees have participated in the tours since 2001, contributing $1.5 million in support of the cause. Total event revenue in 2008 was $9.5 million.

Donations will support MS research as well as services for those impacted by MS.
