Ronald McDonald House Charities Names Sheila Musolino as Next Chief Executive Officer

The Global Non-Profit Poised to Expand Services That Enable Family-Centered Care Over the Next Two Years

OAK BROOK, IL--(Marketwired - Sep 2, 2015) - The Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Global Board of Trustees elected Sheila Musolino, the current vice president and chief operating officer of the Charity, as president and chief executive officer effective December 15, 2015 succeeding current President and CEO J.C. Gonzalez-Mendez. Musolino will lead the global system in plans to expand programs and services to help enable family-centered care for nearly six million children annually.

"The RMHC system, including the network of 300 local RMHC Chapters worldwide, is a vital part of the health care continuum, a catalyst for bringing people together to find solutions and provide programs that strengthen families during difficult times," said Steve Ramirez, chairman of the RMHC Board of Trustees. "Electing Sheila, who has been an integral part of the development of our long-range RMHC Impact Strategy and plan, was a natural transition and will allow us to continue to improve our efforts to support our Chapters in serving the critical needs of children and their families. We thank J.C. for the work he has done to date to strengthen our organization."

As vice president and COO of the Charity, Musolino has spearheaded the growth and development of initiatives that provide resources to local RMHC Chapters, as well as developed strong donor relationships, while leading succession planning and organizational development. Musolino succeeds J.C. Gonzalez-Mendez, who is retiring after three years of serving as CEO and over twenty years of dedication to RMHC through participation on local Chapter board of directors in Mexico, Southern California and Chicago.

"I am honored to be entrusted by the RMHC Board of Trustees with delivering on the measureable goals and outcomes of our strategic plan as I step up to lead as the new president and CEO," said Musolino. "RMHC and our network of local Chapters have been recognized by hospital and clinical leadership as an important contributor to delivering family-centered care and helping them enhance their hospitals' quality of care. The Charity's strong leadership at both the global and local levels will allow us to continue to strategically expand, while ensuring we maintain a high level of care and compassion for families."

Today, the RMHC system provides stability and vital resources to nearly six million families in 63 countries and regions through three core programs that include 349 Ronald McDonald Houses, 198 Ronald McDonald Family Rooms and 50 Ronald McDonald Care Mobiles. Recent research conducted worldwide underscores the role that the Charity's cornerstone program, Ronald McDonald House, plays in ensuring access to top medical care for seriously-ill children, keeping families close and involved during times of medical need and crisis by providing comfort and support that improves the overall health care experience. Currently, 35 percent of local Chapters are expanding their programs to meet the increasing demand for these critical services, which includes introducing new programs in areas like China and the Middle East.
