Rossi Rises Above Pack to Take on Ford at CP24

Mayoral Candidate Rises Above Fray at Debate, Emerges as Clear Alternative to Ford

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Sept. 21, 2010) - Rocco Rossi rose above the pack at the CP24 debate earlier this evening, directly challenging Councillor Rob Ford as other candidates squabbled amongst themselves.

Rossi presented a clear plan for restoring accountability at City Hall with term limits and recall while Councillor Rob Ford, on several, occasions, failed to demonstrate that he had any real plan to fulfill his many promises.

Pressed on his financial plan by Rossi, Councillor Ford was unable to explain how he would pay for his billion-dollar revenue cuts. "Show us where the money is going to come from," said Rossi. "It's as simple as that."

While opponents George Smitherman and Councillor Joe Pantalone spent much of the debate engaged in a shouting match with each other, Rossi continued to challenge Councillor Ford who appeared flustered by Rossi's challenge.

Questioned on his commitment to close down Toronto to newcomers, for example, Councillor Ford reversed positions, saying "I welcome (immigrants) here."

Following the debate, Rossi noted it is becoming increasingly clear that he is the only candidate willing and able to focus exclusively on defeating Councillor Ford. "The other candidates can continue to pick away at each other, but I am going to stop Rob Ford.

"I like George, Joe, and Sarah. I think they have made important contributions to this race and I welcome their supporters to my campaign so that we can accomplish our common goal: stopping Rob Ford and taking back City Hall."
