About David Yarrow

David Yarrow, 49, was born in Scotland and is based in London. He was named Young Scottish Photographer of the Year at the age of 20 and in the same year covered the World Cup for The Times newspaper. His internationally syndicated photo of Maradona holding the trophy aloft remains an iconic image of that tournament.

Since turning his lens on the natural world, David has built an unrivalled reputation for capturing the beauty of the planet's remote landscapes and endangered animals and is now widely regarded as the UK's best selling fine-art photographer of his genre. His Encounter Collection, exhibited in November 2013 in Hong Kong, New York and London's Saatchi Gallery, has been followed by The Kenya Collection, which launched at the inaugural Christie's Conservation Lectures in aid of African conservation charity, Tusk Trust.

As a lifelong user of Nikon equipment, David is proud to have been named as a Nikon Ambassador. He has put the brand's products through some of the most grueling situations imaginable in search of the most transcendent images. David puts his understanding of key environmental and geopolitical issues to practical use in his long-term commitment to Tusk as their affiliated photographer. Tusk, whose Royal Patron is HRH the Duke of Cambridge, recently marked its 25th anniversary and receives a percentage of proceeds from David's print and book sales to support its 53 projects in 18 African countries.

David Yarrow and Tusk Foundation

David's latest work from South Sudan featured in the Holden Luntz Gallery (Palm Beach) exhibition 'Beasts of the Earth and the Spirit of Man' and was also on show during the Spring Masters Art Fair in New York earlier this year. The limited edition of 'Mankind', a huge monochrome image of Dinka cattle herders, has already sold out and his South Sudan work now forms a collection of images worth over $1m. David puts his understanding of key environmental and geopolitical issues to practical use in his long-term commitment to Tusk as their affiliated photographer. Tusk, whose Royal Patron is HRH the Duke of Cambridge, recently marked its 25th anniversary. 10% of all photo and book sales from David Yarrow benefit projects in African countries. For two months Yarrow's photos have been on life-size display in Times Square as part of a campaign against poaching.

Tusk is a dynamic and pioneering organization with 25 years of experience initiating and funding conservation, community development and environmental education programs across Africa. Since its formation in 1990, Tusk has invested more than £25 ($40) million into a wide range of projects across the continent. The charity has earned a reputation for being financially efficient, with an average of 80% of the net funds rose reaching the fields.
