Rouge Restaurant Celebrates 10th Anniversary With Red Cross Japan Relief Fundraiser

One of the world's top ranked restaurants gives back for disaster relief

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - March 24, 2011) - Rouge Restaurant, ranked 60th out of 100 best restaurants in the world in 2010, is pleased to announce they are celebrating their 10th anniversary in their historic location in Inglewood by hosting a dinner to benefit victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

"Having the fundraiser on the actual day of our 10th anniversary is our way of celebrating the success we've experienced these last few years," said Chef Paul Rogalski, Chief Culinary Officer and co-owner of Rouge. "What better way to revel in that success then to share it and give back to a great cause by doing what we do best, creating outstanding cuisine."

The philanthropic evening will pay tribute to Japan, kicking off at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 1, 2011. Co-owners Olivier Reynaud and Paul Rogalski and Executive Chef Michael Dekker will honour Japanese culture and food by artfully preparing a six- course Japanese inspired menu, rounded out with sake and wine pairings matched perfectly to the elegant flavours of the meal.

Undoubtedly the highlight of the evening will be internationally recognized guest chef and SAIT culinary instructor, Chef Hayato Okamitsu, challenging the Rouge team to a "Duck Chef-Off". The result of this kitchen battle will offer guests two duck entrée options, tailored to each chefs personal culinary style.

Tickets are $200 each and sold on a first come first serve basis. One hundred dollars per ticket will be donated to the Canadian Red Cross, and with only 80 seats available for this remarkable event, guests are encouraged to call and make a reservation. "Every dollar collected has an impact on someone's life that has been drastically changed forever," said Andres Gutierrez, Fund Development Coordinator, Canadian Red Cross. "It's truly inspiring to see how Calgarians have shown their support during this time of tragedy."

In addition to the ticket sales, a donation box will be available for additional offerings. The money raised will be used to support emergency health and the distribution of relief items to people impacted by the Japan disaster.
