Roundbox Validates Interoperability of ESG Server at OMA BCAST TestFest in Spain

Roundbox Reinforces Commitment to Deliver OMA BCAST-Enabled Products for Commercial Deployment of Mobile Broadcast Services

FLORHAM PARK, NJ--(Marketwire - April 28, 2008) - Roundbox, Inc., the leader in mobile broadcast software, has completed interoperability testing of the Roundbox Broadcast Server at the Open Mobile Alliance™ (OMA) TestFest held in Madrid, Spain from March 28 - April 4. The interoperability tests, involving 24 teams from 16 companies, centered around testing client and server software and hardware products from global vendors who are focused on delivering OMA-compliant mobile broadcast products. Roundbox tested that its ESG server interoperated with the other products implementing the OMA BCAST 1.0 specification.

The Roundbox Broadcast Server is a key component of the TV Guide Mobile Electronic Service Guide (ESG) Solution powered by Roundbox, a launch pad to access multimedia services quickly and intuitively on any mobile device. The server aggregates programming data and delivers the guide to the handset over the broadcast network. It supports OMA BCAST and other standard formats, including DVB-IPDC.

"As BCAST nears commercialization, ensuring seamless interoperability is crucial," said Doug Dominiak, product manager of the Electronic Service Guide at Roundbox and editor of the OMA BCAST File and Stream Distribution technical specification. "The OMA TestFest program has provided us with valuable data to ensure our ESG solution meets the interoperability standards that operators expect."

"Roundbox's commitment to the OMA TestFest program has helped the specification reach maturity," said Howard Greenwell, director of Technical Programs for OMA. "Industry wide success of mobile broadcast services will depend heavily on testing the specification in as many scenarios as possible, guaranteeing seamless interoperability. We look forward to Roundbox's continued support as the industry prepares for the first implementations of BCAST."

The Roundbox-powered TV Guide Mobile ESG is a comprehensive solution for video guidance unifying content delivered over today's unicast networks and advanced mobile broadcast networks while maximizing opportunities for competitive differentiation. This consumer interface will be familiar to millions of cable TV subscribers around the world and enables consumers to intuitively navigate the full range of mobile video services. Additionally, the ESG is designed to seamlessly support multiple bearer networks including Digital Video Broadcast-Handheld (DVB-H), 3GPP2 Broadcast and Multicast Services (BCMCS), 3GPP Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (MBMS), FLO technology and unicast streaming.

Roundbox is an active OMA member. In addition to collaborating on the BCAST specification, Roundbox chairs a sub-working group within OMA focused on a BCAST adaptation for dynamic content delivery.
