Roy Hill Selects Aconex for Iron Ore Mining Project

Multi-Company Team Will Use Neutral Project Information Management Platform

PERTH, AUSTRALIA--(Marketwired - Apr 15, 2014) -  Aconex, provider of the world's most widely used construction project management software, has been selected by Roy Hill Holdings Pty Ltd to support the construction and operation of Roy Hill, one of Australia's largest integrated iron ore mining, rail and port projects. Located approximately 115 kilometers north of Newman in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, the Roy Hill mine has a total resource of more than 2.3 billion tonnes of average +55% Fe iron ore over a mine life of at least 20 years, with the first shipment scheduled for 2015.

"The Roy Hill project is a strategic win for us in the Australian mining sector," said Steven Brant, general manager of Australia and New Zealand at Aconex. "It's a complex project with a wide range of stakeholders and multiple assets to be built. The owner is committed to the use of proven technology to reduce risk and ensure successful project delivery. We look forward to helping the entire project team follow best practices in collaborative information management so that the mine and its supporting operations start production on schedule."

According to Brant, Roy Hill and the majority of its contractors are now using the Aconex platform as a single source of project information management and collaboration for the construction and operation phases of the project. The platform is currently being used by approximately 23 different organizations involved in the project, and this number is likely to grow as additional operational contracts are engaged. With Aconex, project teams manage and respond to contractual communications, share and update documents and drawings, and execute project-defined workflows for process control and document reviews and approvals -- all in a controlled manner with a full audit trail designed for fast, easy searches.

Brant added: "The innovative application of technology across all engineering and operations is at the core of the Roy Hill project. We believe that Aconex was selected because its neutral cloud-based platform would enable the company to control business documentation for improved efficiency and accuracy, while managing risk and regulatory compliance."
