Royal Roads Announces Preliminary Results of 2005
Exploration Program

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(CCNMatthews - March 23, 2005) - Robert B. Fraleigh,
President of Royal Roads Corp. (TSX VENTURE:RRO), is pleased to announce
preliminary assay results of the Corporation's 2005 exploration program
relating to a portion of the Tulks North project located in west central
Newfoundland. The Tulks North project is 100% owned by the Corporation
and includes a 16,075 hectare continuous land package located in the
prolific Buchans base metal mining district. The Tulks North property is
approximately 25 km west of Aur Resources' Duck Pond proposed mine
development (Stockwatch December 14, 2004 news release) and adjoining
along trend to the northeast of Messina Minerals' Boomerang Discovery
(Stockwatch December 10, 2004 news release).

Exploratory hole HRP-05-1 was drilled to test a known Zn in soil anomaly
on the Corporation's Harbour Round claims. This hole was drilled to a
depth of 199.95 metres and intersected a number of zinc-rich intervals
including 1.18 metres of quartz-carbonate sheared mafic pyroclastics
grading 0.89% Zn, 0.25% Cu and 1.6 g/t Ag. Based on these encouraging
results, it is expected the Corporation will be delegating additional
exploration resources to this area in the future.

Holes DN-05-1 to DN-05-7 were completed over a strike length of 700 m on
the Daniel's Pond VMS-Style polymetallic base metal deposit to further
delineate the copper-lead-zinc-silver-gold deposit. Highlights for this
phase of the project indicate additional areas of base metal
mineralization including DN-05-6, located in the Central Zone of
Daniel's Pond, which intersected a core length of 10.99 meters massive
sulfide grading 7.40% Zn, 3.75% Pb, 0.47% Cu. 136.7g/t Ag and 0.48g/t
Au. Of particular note, within this intersection was a 0.60 metre
interval grading 26.40% Zn, 16.50% Pb and 588.2g/t Ag. DN-05-06
represents the largest width intersection on the Daniel's Pond deposit
to date. The Central Zone holds significant potential to add to Royal
Road's established high grade inferred resource of 1.81 million tones
grading 0.41% Cu, 3.58% Pb, 6.74% Zn, 162.45 g/t Ag & 0.50 g/t Au as no
high grade inferred resources have been attributed to the Central Zone.

Drilling is currently underway on the Daniel's Pond Extension, an area
displaying similar geochemical surface anomalies as those that
discovered the Daniel's Pond Deposit located 5 kilometers along strike
to the southwest. Four shallow holes will be drilled to test these
anomalies. In addition, two additional holes will be drilled in the
Daniel's Pond Central Zone as a follow up to DN-05-06. Assay results
will be released when available.

All core samples were cut by diamond saw in the Corporation's core
logging facility in Buchans, Newfoundland with half the core being
delivered to Eastern Analytical Laboratories by personnel of the
Corporation. The assay laboratory has performed a geochemical assay for
base metals on all samples from the Daniel's Pond deposit and ICP
analysis on those from the HRP drill hole. Gold values have been
determined by the fire assay technique. Currently a selection of
mineralized and unmineralized samples is being forwarded to TSL in
Saskatoon for check analyzes.

Peter A. Dadson is the Company's nominated Qualified Person responsible
for monitoring the supervision of the exploration program completed on
the Tulks North Property. Mr. Dadson has reviewed and verified the
technical information in this news release.
