Royal Visit, King And Queen of Netherlands 21-Gun Salute

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - May 26, 2015) - A 21-gun salute will be fired to welcome their Majesties King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. This state visit to Canada was at the invitation of Their Excellencies the Right Honorable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, and Mrs. Sharon Johnston.

The firing is scheduled to commence at Approx 11:00 a.m. on May 27, 2015. Local residents and visitors may notice a succession of loud noises.

Four 105-mm C3 howitzers from 30th Field Regiment, Royal Canadian Artillery will be positioned outside Rideau Hall for the firing. Each gun will fire a blank round, in succession with a standard interval of 10-seconds, for a total of 5 for each gun + 1 round for the first gun to achieve the 21-rounds total.
