RTI Presents "ISO 26262 Approval of Automotive Software Components" Complimentary Webinar

Verocel Joins RTI in Discussing Best Practices for Leveraging both the ISO 26262 and DDS Standards Across Platforms

SUNNYVALE, CA--(Marketwired - Dec 5, 2016) - Real-Time Innovations (RTI), the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) connectivity platform company, today announced it is hosting a complimentary webinar, "ISO 26262 Approval of Automotive Software Components," in partnership with Verocel, a leading provider of verification support, gap analysis and independent testing services.

ISO 26262 is the de facto safety standard for road vehicle electronic systems development and production. This comprehensive, ten-part standard applies to all elements of vehicle design including functional safety, system development, hardware, software, supporting processes and more. Although it can be quite costly and daunting to implement, ISO 26262 is organized such that software components can be certified independent of the vehicle, which allows OEMs to take advantage of commercial off-the-shelf software to reduce their certification cost and risk.

Bob Leigh, director of market development at RTI, and Joe Wlad, vice president of business development at Verocel, will provide an overview of the ISO 26262 software objectives and how commercial software components like RTI Connext DDS can be assessed and used across many various platforms without modification. This pair of industry experts will also discuss how Connext DDS reduces initial and recurring certification costs by decoupling modules and easing integration of components with different safety levels. They will delve into the key characteristics of ISO 26262 reusable software and useful recommendations on how to integrate reusable software in subsequent ISO 26262 assessments.
