Ruby Receptionists Ranks #38 Best Green Company in Oregon

Portland-Based Company Earns Accolades From Oregon Business Magazine for Its Sustainable Workplace Practices for Fourth Year

PORTLAND, OR--(Marketwired - Jun 3, 2013) - Portland's Ruby Receptionists, the voice of small business and Fortune magazine's #1 Best Small Company to Work for in the U.S., today announced it was selected for Oregon Business magazine's "100 Best Green Companies" list for the fourth consecutive year. Each year, Oregon Business recognizes 100 companies around the state whose employees feel there is a strong commitment to green practices in the workplace. The rankings are based on anonymous survey responses from more than 20,000 employees from 440 organizations in Oregon. This year, Ruby ranked #38 on the list.

"It's a great honor to be selected as one of the top green companies in Oregon for the fourth year," said Jill Nelson, Founder and CEO of Ruby Receptionists. "At Ruby, creating a sustainable workplace is something we're proud of and important to our staff. It's part of our culture here and helps us maintain a healthy, happy workplace."

As part of the selection process, Oregon employees take the "100 Best" survey, providing insights into their company's sustainability practices and ranking overall workplace satisfaction. Criteria include energy conservation, water use, buying local, recycling and support for mass transit. In addition, employers are independently scored on their sustainable policies and procedures.

Ruby takes great pride in its green workplace efforts and features an employee-based "Green Team" that organizes and supports numerous sustainable practices. At its LEED-certified Pearl District office, Ruby's "Green Team" have implemented various new programs, including composting. Its company break room includes dishwashers with reusable dishware to reduce waste and a recycling center. Double-sided printing is used whenever possible with single-sided printouts repurposed into notepads. Ruby employees are encouraged to walk, bike, carpool or take public transportation through its Alternative Transportation Incentive program, offering rewards to those who participate 75 percent of the year. For bikers, Ruby provides access to safe bike storage and in-office showers.

In addition to this year's green companies award, Oregon Business has selected Ruby as one of the state's top five companies to work for over the past two years. To learn more about Ruby or sign up for a free trial, visit CallRuby.com.
