Rudolph and Sletten to Build New Solar Manufacturing Facility for Solyndra

Rudolph and Sletten Provides Construction Services for Solyndra's Fab 2 in Fremont, California

REDWOOD CITY, CA--(Marketwire - September 21, 2009) - Rudolph and Sletten, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tutor Perini Corporation (NYSE: TPC), announced today that the company has been awarded a contract to build phase one of the new $733 million thin-film solar panel manufacturing facility for Solyndra, Inc. in Fremont, California. The first phase of the Solyndra's Fab 2, will contain 609,000 square feet of manufacturing plant floor area, utility and support space, shipping and receiving, and administrative and professional office areas.

"We are very pleased to have Rudolph and Sletten, together with their partners, construct our Fab 2 facility," said Dr. Kelly Truman, Solyndra's VP of Marketing and Business Development. "Fab 2 will allow us to meet strong customer demand, lower manufacturing costs, and provide thousands of local jobs."

Solyndra's Fab 2 is designed to produce 500 megawatts per year. Combined with their current Fab 1 manufacturing facility, the output will be over 600 megawatts per year, the most in the Bay Area. Over their lifetime, the two Solyndra plants will produce enough solar panels to cut over 350 million metric tons of CO2 emissions or 850 million barrels of oil.

"Buildings that push technology forward are our specialty," said Martin Sisemore, CEO for Rudolph and Sletten. "Our innovative and thorough approach to construction is the main reason high-tech companies such as Solyndra, Hitachi, Agilent and Hewlett-Packard choose Rudolph and Sletten."

Rudolph and Sletten will work along with the project's construction manager, Aequitas Constructors, the design engineers, CH2M HILL, and the architect, STUDIOS Architecture, to perform all preconstruction and construction services.

Solyndra's cylindrical, thin film PV systems are designed to generate more electricity on an annual basis than typical low-slope commercial rooftops, while uniquely providing much lower installation costs than conventional flat panel PV technologies.
