Rudy's "Country Store" and Bar-B-Q Kicks Off National Barbecue Month With Donation of $12,393 to Texas Volunteer Firefighters

Funds Raised Through Texas Independence Day Promotion In-Store and Follow2Support

LAKEWAY, TX--(Marketwire - May 1, 2012) - Rudy's "Country Store" and Bar-B-Q kicks off National Barbecue Month with a donation of $12,393 to the Texas Wildfire Relief Fund, which provides financial assistance to the State's volunteer fire departments and firefighters. The donation was raised during Rudy's Bar-B-Q's Texas Independence Day fundraising effort last March 2nd, when it dropped prices of its quarter pound briskets to 32 cents from 2pm - 4pm.

The 32 cents collected during the special promotion hours were added to Rudy's Follow2Support, its social media for social good program, which donated a dollar for every new Facebook "like" on http://facebook.com/rudysbbq and Twitter follower on http://twitter.com/rudysbbq, from February 27th through March 8th.

"This is the third consecutive year we have celebrated Texas Independence Day by rolling back prices to 32 cents for quarter pound briskets, and at the same time, raise funds for a cause that Rudy's supports," said Pete Bassett, Vice President of Operations at Rudy's Bar-B-Q. "We are thankful to all our guests who helped us raise money for Texas volunteer firehouses and firefighters who were instrumental in defeating the wildfires of 2011 that engulfed Central Texas."

"We are thankful to Rudy's Bar-B-Q for this timely donation that will help our efforts in providing much needed equipment and training to our volunteer firefighters as we enter the fire season," said Chris Barron, Executive Director of the State Firemen's and Fire Marshals' Association, which manages the Texas Wildfire Relief Fund. "We also ask Texans to be vigilant in making sure that they follow the wildfire prevention tips that can be found at http://www.rudysbbq.com/page/txindependenceday."
