Run of River Power Inc.: 140 MW Pitt River Project Cluster Submitted to BC Environmental Assessment Office

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Dec. 19, 2006) -

Run of River Power Inc. (TSX VENTURE:ROR) ("Run of River") is pleased to announce that it has submitted its Project Description for the Upper Pitt River Project Cluster to the British Columbia Environmental Assessment Office (EAO). The submission of the Project Description is a key milestone, as it is the first step in the process whereby Run of River will seek a Project Certificate under the British Columbia Environmental Assessment Act (BCEAA). BCEAA is the comprehensive harmonized federal-provincial environmental assessment process for major projects review in British Columbia. In addition to harmonizing the regulatory requirements of federal and provincial environmental assessment legislation, the BCEAA process provides for concurrent permitting, including the water licenses and land tenures required for the seven hydropower projects.

During 2006, Run of River commenced the technical studies to support project development and permitting, including hydrology, terrain assessment, fish and wildlife, archeology and engineering. In addition to initiating the BCEAA process, Run of River has completed initial consultations with First Nations, local governments and the public, including open house events that were hosted in the project area communities of Squamish and Pitt Meadows.

Jako Krushnisky, CEO of Run of River Power stated, "The accumulation of this years work has led to the accomplishment of this important milestone for Run of River. It is exciting to advance the Pitt River Project Cluster which will contribute to reducing BC Hydro's energy deficiency in a significant way while bringing tremendous value to shareholders." Run of River anticipates that it will submit these projects to BC Hydro's next call for energy expected in 2007.
