Rural/Metro Awarded New Contract to Continue as Exclusive 911 Ambulance Provider in Youngstown, Ohio

SCOTTSDALE, AZ--(Marketwire - September 17, 2009) - Rural/Metro Corporation (NASDAQ: RURL), a leading national provider of ambulance and private fire protection services, has been awarded a new long-term contract to continue providing exclusive emergency ambulance services to the City of Youngstown, Ohio.

The four-year contract term began Sept. 1, 2009, following a unanimous vote of the Youngstown Board of Control. The contract is expected to generate approximately $3.8 million in net revenue annually.

Rural/Metro provides emergency and non-emergency ambulance transportation services in the communities of Youngstown, Boardman Township, and Poland Township in Mahoning County.
