SCOTTSDALE, AZ--(Marketwire - Dec 17, 2012) - Rural/Metro Corporation, a leading national provider of ambulance and private fire protection services, announced today it has been awarded the exclusive, long-term contract to continue providing emergency ambulance services in Knox County, Tennessee. The award followed a unanimous vote today of the Knox County Commission.

The contract award is for an initial five-year term, followed by two, five-year renewal options thereafter. The new contract term is scheduled to take effect July 1, 2013. Rural/Metro provides services to more than 62,000 patients annually in Knox County.
