The Russell 3000 Defensive Index Outperformed the Russell 3000 Dynamic Index YTD Through September 23

SEATTLE, WA--(Marketwire - Sep 27, 2011) - The Russell 3000 Defensive Index, which measures the performance of the broad defensive segment of the U.S. equity universe as defined by various stability factors, outperformed the Russell 3000 Dynamic Index year-to-date through September 23, 2011. This trend that has been consistent recently as the Russell 3000 Defensive Index reflected a return of (-10.0%) for the third quarter-to-date (through 9/23) while the Russell 3000 Dynamic Index reflected a negative return of (-19.6%) for the same time period.

For the second quarter, the Russell 3000 Defensive Index reflected a 2.2% gain while the Russell Dynamic Index posted a negative loss of (-2.2%).
