Russell 3000 and Russell 1000 Indexes: Black Friday Performance of Retail Sectors Show Improvement Over 2009

SEATTLE, WA--(Marketwire - November 29, 2010) - The diversified retail sector of the U.S. broad-market Russell 3000® Index reflected a loss of 0.3% on "Black Friday," November 26, 2010, outperforming the same post-Thanksgiving shopping day on November 27, 2009 (-1.2%). The Russell 3000 Index specialty retail sector also mirrored improvement in the sector, posting a loss of 0.5% for November 26, 2010, a gain over last year's Black Friday loss of 1.4%.

The performance of the U.S. large-cap Russell 1000® Index diversified retail sector also showed returns of -0.3% for November 26, 2010, an improvement over 2009's Black Friday -1.1% returns. The specialty retail sector of the Russell 1000 Index showed returns of -0.5% this Black Friday, gaining on last year's loss of 1.2%.
