Russell Global Indexes: Energy Leads All Sectors in Russell 3000 Through April 22

SEATTLE, WA--(Marketwire - Apr 25, 2011) - Energy outperformed all sectors in the U.S. broad-market Russell 3000® Index and the Russell Developed ex-U.S. Index year-to-date through April 22, 2011, reflecting gains of 16.2% and 13.0% respectively as both indexes posted identical returns (7.4%) for the same period.

Meanwhile, the financial services sector, which ranked second among top performing sectors in the Russell Developed ex-US (8.9%), was the lowest performing sector in the Russell 3000 Index, reflecting a return of 2.8% for the year-to-date through April 22, 2011.

Health care posted strong returns in both indexes for the period, as the sector reflected a 10.3% return in the Russell 3000 Index and an 8.6% return in the Russell Developed ex-U.S. Index. Technology was the worst performing sector in the Russell Developed ex-U.S. Index (3.4), while posting a 4.9% return in the Russell 3000 Index.
