Rustic Pathways Introduces Two Cuba Programs for Summer 2016

Student Travelers Will Discover Cuba's Culture and Beauty While Engaging With and Giving Back to Local Communities

HUNSTBURG, OH--(Marketwired - December 15, 2015) - Rustic Pathways, a leader in providing international community service, education, and adventure programs for students around the world, is now offering programs to Cuba for the first time. Student travelers now have the opportunity to explore Cuba's rustic mountains and colorful cities with two new program options.

"With Cuba now open to U.S. travelers, it is an exciting time to visit the country that is so close to home, but still undeveloped and untouched by travelers," said Chris Stakich, CEO of Rustic Pathways. "At Rustic Pathways we believe travel is a bridge for learning and connecting with other cultures and we are thrilled to give student travelers the unique opportunity to experience this in Cuba."

Rustic Pathways offers more than 100 programs in over 20 countries and below are the details on the two Cuba programs for 2016:

Viva la Cuba! Culture and Conservation: Students will enjoy an amazing cultural exchange in the Cuban cities of Havana and Trinidad. This program is tailored for those who are passionate about environmental conservation. Students will have the opportunity to travel by horseback into the famous Charco Azul lagoon where a reforestation project awaits, sleep under the stars after a waterfall hike, get their hands dirty with local farmers while learning about their sustainable practices, and experience youth culture with plenty of dancing, food, and new friends. The program cost is $4,995 plus international airfare for summer 2016 departures.

Innovation in Action: Cuba: This two-week program offers students an opportunity to explore Cuba's rural regions and is tailored for innovative and critical-thinking minds. Students will learn to create actionable solutions for real-world problems by taking design-thinking training: a technique used by entrepreneurs and innovators. Students will work alongside local farmers to learn about sustainability through conservation projects, and will meet with Cuban peers to experience local youth culture. There will be time to explore this beautiful country with a horseback ride to a refreshing lagoon for a swim, a hike to a stunning lookout offering spectacular views, and opportunities to soak up the sun on turquoise Caribbean beaches. The program cost is $5,195 plus international airfare for summer 2016 departures.
